Do Hwang, M.D. is board-certified through the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Hwang completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of Toledo, St. Luke’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, 2007- 2010. During her residency, she was elected Chief Resident in the 2009-2010 academic year. She was a member of the Narcotics Committee, the Curriculum Committee, and the Patient Education Committee, and she served on the Infectious Disease Control Committee of St. Luke’s Hospital. Dr. Hwang earned her medical degree from St. Matthew’s University, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, BWI, from 2002 to 2006. She obtained a Master of Science, in Microbiology and Immunology from Kon-Kuk University Graduate School, Seoul, South Korea, 1996-1999, mastering all the essential molecular biologic techniques, such as PCR, Western blot, Southern blot, DNA sequencing, cell culture, viral replications, ELISA, genetic vector cloning, and flow cytometry, and was a teaching assistant in clinical microbiology, clinical pathology, and laboratory avian diseases. As an undergraduate, Dr. Hwang earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Kon-Kuk University School of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul, South Korea, 1992-1996. Her published research and presentations include “Group visits and chronic disease management.,” J. Brennan, D. Hwang, K. Hwang, J. Lee, T. Kim, Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Science, 2001, Vol 63(6), pp. 659-662. Dr. Hwang, a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians, and the Florida Medical Association. She was honored with a Sang-Huh Scholarship, a fulltuition merit scholarship in 1997, and a Resident Teacher Award by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine in June 2010. Dr. Hwang has been recognized through the NCQA’s Diabetes Recognition Program (DRP). Clinicians who achieve DRP Recognition show their peers, patients and others in the Diabetes community that they are part of an elite group that is publicly recognized for its skill in providing the highest-level diabetes care.
