Fernando Canada, M.D., is board-certified through the Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Canada completed an internal medicine at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, Bronx, New York, July 1989 to June 1991, serving an internship at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center as well, July 1988 to June 1989. He earned his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain, from September 1977 to July 1983. He pursued postgraduate studies in statistical and epidemiologic methods applied to medicine at the Autonomous University of Brussels in Belgium. Dr. Canada holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, the Federation Licensing Examination (FLEX) Pennsylvania, and Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, ECFMG. His published research includes “Theophylline Really Does Increase the Respiratory Drive,” Marino WD, Canada F., Chest 1990 Aug (suppl) 98:21S. Dr. Canada has been recognized through the NCQA’s Diabetes Recognition Program (DRP). Clinicians who achieve DRP Recognition show their peers, patients and others in the Diabetes community that they are part of an elite group that is publicly recognized for its skill in providing the highest-level diabetes care.
