Dr. Akinremi Akinwale, a board-certified internal medicine specialist, completed his internal medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY, in 2003 and an internship at University College Hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria, in 1998. Dr. Akinwale earned his medical degree from the University of Ibadan in 1997, and obtained an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 2009. Dr. Akinwale is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Mississippi State Medical Association. He has held positions contributing to hospitals' operations and patient care initiatives. Before joining our center in 2024, Dr. Akinwale worked as a hospitalist and program director with Merit Health Natchez. His tenure as medical director of Quality Assurance of Promise Hospital of Miss Lou, now Riverbridge Specialty Hospital in Vidalia, LA, showcased his dedication to enhancing patient care standards, and he established and led the first hospitalist program at Natchez Community Hospital. Dr. Akinwale chose medicine to make a difference in people's lives. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading books, and playing tennis.
