Dr. Alan Ekanem, a general medicine practitioner, earned a Ph.D. in public health epidemiology from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2015. Dr. Ekanem's medical journey began at the University of Jos in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, where he obtained his medical degree in 1998. He received his Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the University of Calabar in Cross River State, Nigeria. Dr. Ekanem has held positions, including as senior research manager, where he focused on using immune-based interleukin therapy to prevent heart attack recurrence. He has also contributed to stem cell research on progressive systemic sclerosis, conducted meticulous audits of medical documents to ensure compliance with FDA regulations, and evaluated the efficacy of a direct factor X inhibitor in treating and preventing pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis. Joining Conviva in 2023, Dr. Ekanem's clinical practice reflects his commitment to healthcare and research, providing holistic and compassionate care to older adults. Dr. Ekanem chose a medical career to make a difference in people's lives. Outside of his work, he enjoys golf, chess, basketball, and nurturing his lawn.
