Donald G. Detmering, M.D., specializes in Family Medicine. At Conviva Care Center Live Oak, he leads a team of compassionate, patient-focused primary care professionals with a commitment to medical excellence. Dr. Detmering completed a Family Medicine Residency at the University of Nebraska, Offutt AFB, Omaha, Nebraska, and served as a chief clinical resident from 1999 to 2002. He earned his medical degree with high distinction from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky, from 1995 to 1999. As an undergraduate, he obtained a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky, from 1991 to 1995. Before joining Conviva, Dr. Detmering served as the Staff Primary Care Manager of the South Texas Veteran’s Administration Healthcare System in San Antonio, Texas, providing comprehensive primary care and healthcare coordination to a complex and diverse panel of approximately 1300 patients. From 2006 to 2008, he practiced as a Staff Primary Care Manager with a United States Air Force contract in San Antonio, Texas. From 2002 to 2006, he served as a Staff Family Physician at Lackland Air Force Base (including medical deployments to Europe and Iraq). He also served as the Medical Director of Primary Care at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
