Dr. Francisco Javier Maldonado-Díaz, a family and geriatric medicine specialist, performed his geriatric medicine fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Florida, following a family medicine residency at Mayaguez Medical Center in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and was named chief resident. Dr. Maldonado-Díaz earned his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara School of Medicine, in the top 10% of his class. He holds a B.S. in Human Biology from the University of Puerto Rico and was honored with a Pop Health Preventive Medicine Grant at Cleveland Clinic Florida. He moderated the 65th Annual Congress of the Puerto Rico Academy of Family Physicians and has presented his research at scientific conferences. Before joining Conviva in 2023, Dr. Maldonado-Díaz enhanced his geriatric patient care through exposure to an innovative model to prevent functional decline. Dr. Maldonado-Díaz chose medicine to help others and serve the community. He volunteered as a medical team member, caring for people affected by Hurricane Maria and the earthquake in Puerto Rico. In his free time, he enjoys making family memories, playing basketball, and traveling to new destinations.
