Dr. Julio Cesar Vijil, MD, MPH, CPI, is a Nephrologist and Internal Medicine specialist with extensive experience caring for adults and seniors. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and completed residency and fellowship training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the University of Illinois Medical Center. His career included serving as a nephrologist, partner, medical director, and later Chief of Medicine at Memorial Regional Hospital, where he also held leadership roles such as Vice Chief of Medicine and contributed to peer review committees. He taught medical students, residents, and fellows across multiple academic institutions and participated in national research initiatives as a principal investigator. Dr. Vijil has cared for elderly patients with complex kidney conditions and authored a chapter on anemia management in chronic kidney disease. He believes in treating patients with the same dedication he gives his own family and is passionate about kidney health within whole person care. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and watching football.
