Karina Escudero Chu, M.D., is a family care physician. At Conviva Care Center Plant City, she joins a team of compassionate, patient-focused primary care professionals with a commitment to medical excellence. Dr. Escudero Chu completed a directed medical internship and social service at HIMA San Pablo Hospital in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She earned her medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico. She obtained a Master of Education, a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. Her recognitions include the Dr. Rivera Dueño Award for Outstanding Work at HIMA San Pablo Hospital; Outstanding Rotation in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Santa Martha Hospital, Guadalajara, México; Outstanding Cross-Cultural Graduate, Outstanding Service Award, and Multicultural Scholarship Recipient, Weber State University. Dr. Escudero Chu has co-authored papers published in Current Urology Reports and Puerto Rico Health Science Journal. She has presented research at medical and scientific conferences including the Puerto Rico Urological Association Convention and the Western Region American Microbiology Society Annual Meeting. Dr. Escudero Chu practiced as a family care physician at Mediko Valle Tolima in Caguas, Puerto Rico, from 2021 until joining Conviva in 2022. She is a member of the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants, ProTraining CPR/AED, American Registry of Medical Assistants, Autonomous University of Guadalajara Alumni, and Weber State University Alumni. She has volunteered with Catholic Community Services of Utah, Prevent Blindness, and the American Red Cross.
