Dr. Maria Cuesta Torres, a board-certified family medicine specialist, completed her residency at Bella Vista Hospital in Mayaguez, PR, in 2008. Dr. Cuesta Torres earned her medical degree in 1983 from the University of Medical Sciences of Havana, where she also completed a surgical residency. She performed an intensive care fellowship at Hermanos Amejeiras Hospital and practiced general surgery at General Calixto Garcia Hospital in Havana, Cuba, for 14 years. Before joining our center in 2024, Dr. Cuesta Torres worked with Vitas Health Care and previously at Elite Health, Claremedica Health Group, Community Medical Group, and Leon Medical Center in Miami, FL. Passionate about addressing loneliness and socialization, caregiving, and nutrition, Dr. Cuesta Torres believes in empowering her patients and care team through accurate information and continual learning. Her experience treating seniors highlights her commitment to providing comprehensive care. She is affiliated with the AMA and the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Cuesta Torres chose the medicine to help others and serve her community. In her leisure time, she enjoys family, listening to music, and the outdoors.
