Maria Tamayo, APRN, FNP, joined Conviva as a board-certified family nurse practitioner. Ms. Tamayo completed her family nurse practitioner, FNP, graduate hours residency at Hershman Medical Center in Miami, Florida. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN-FNP, from the College of Nursing and Medical Science at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida, in 2017. She also obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from FIU, graduating summa cum laude. Ms. Tamayo has co-authored research, including the article, “Shifting attention to the family caregiver: the neglected, vulnerable, at-risk person sitting at the side of your patient and struggling to maintain their health,” published in the Journal of Family Medicine in 2016. Ms. Tamayo believes that being a nurse has allowed her to improve people's lives and wouldn't change it for the world. The causes she supports include animal welfare, arts and culture, civil rights and social action, education, and the environment. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, the great outdoors, exercising, and animals.
