Dr. Pavel Valdes completed his internal medicine training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas, achieving First Honors during PGY1 and receiving an Honorable Mention for his internal medicine in-training exam. Earlier in his career, before relocating to the U.S., Dr. Valdes completed a residency in clinical neurophysiology at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery in Havana, Cuba. Dr. Valdes earned his medical degree from the University of Havana in 1990. His accolades included First Place in anatomy at the Medical University of Pinar del Rio, First Honors in both internal medicine and physiology II at the same institution, and Top Honors in physiology I. He conducted research, including a study at the Neurosciences National Center in Havana, Cuba, focusing on Visual Pattern Evoked Potential in Patients with Optic Epidemic Neuropathy from 1993 to 1995. Dr. Valdes is a current member of the American Medical Association (AMA) and a past member of the Neuroscience Society of Cuba. When he is away from work, he enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with his family, playing the guitar, exploring languages, and contributing to Wikipedia.
