Stella Rodríguez Barrios, M.D., is a primary care physician with over 27 years of experience in diagnosing and treating medical conditions in emergency rooms, hospitals, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation departments. Dr. Rodríguez Barrios performed an occupational medicine fellowship with the Colombian School of Medicine in Colombia from 1995 to 1997. She completed a rotating internship at San Gerardo Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from 2007 to 2008, and she was elected Chief Intern. Her team evaluated, diagnosed, and treated adults and children in the hospital and emergency room, provided wound care, and monitored and assessed the health status of patients in rehabilitation programs. She also completed a rotating internship at San Jose Hospital in Popayan, Colombia, from 1990 to 1991. Dr. Rodríguez Barrios earned her medical degree from the University of Cauca in Popayan, Colombia, 1991. Her professional affiliations include the St. Johns County Medical Society. Since 2016, she has been an active volunteer with Friends of the Missions, Inc., a non-profit organization that does medical missions in underserved regions abroad. In February 2019, they provided medical care in Yoro, Honduras - the organization has traveled there annually to provide medical care to the surrounding rural villages with the support of local physicians for the past 15 years. In November 2017, they provided medical care in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, one of the areas most devastated by Hurricane Maria, and in November 2016, they provided medical care for patients in the Santa Rosa Amerindian village and the township of Charity in Guyana. In her spare time, she enjoys learning about different cultures. She also loves to dance and practices Zumba regularly.
