Dr. Sherryl Ashberg, M.D., a board-certified family medicine specialist, completed her family medicine residency at Shands Jacksonville; she served as chief resident and was Intern of the Year in 2001. Dr. Ashberg earned her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine following her transfer from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, on the Dean's List at Baylor University. Before joining Conviva, Dr. Ashberg's career took her on a unique path. In 2013, she ventured to Cape Town, South Africa, where she served as a medical officer of the Department of Health and as a surgical assistant. Her time in rural areas and townships exposed her to extreme resource limitations, fostering innovative thinking and deepening her compassion. These experiences shaped her dedication to addressing healthcare issues facing underserved populations. Dr. Ashberg's commitment to healthcare extends beyond her professional life. She volunteers with Furry Friends and the Big Dog Ranch, reflecting her love for animals. When not working, she enjoys quality time with her family, skiing, scuba diving, and the beach.
