Dr. Eddie Velazquez, a fellowship-trained internal medicine specialist completed an internal medicine residency at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, in 1990 after performing a fellowship in geriatric medicine at Saint Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio. Dr. Velazquez earned his medical degree from Central University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Cayey, Puerto Rico. He obtained his Bachelor of Science, Pre-med, from the University of Puerto Rico. Before joining Conviva in 2022, Dr. Velazquez practiced internal medicine and geriatrics with Continucare in Margate, FL, for 14 years. Earlier, he was the Chief Health Officer of the Dade Correctional Institution in Homestead, FL. His internal medicine and geriatrics experience includes Metcare Wellington and Western Communities Family Practice Associates, in Wellington, FL, and as an internist with Dr. Jordan Prieto in Plantation. Dr. Velazquez began his career as an internist in geriatrics with Genesis Health Venture in Salisbury, MD. Originally from Puerto Rico, he and his wife, Bibiana, have four children. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and traveling.
