Marie Carmel F. Lafontant, ARNP, NP, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She holds certifications in advanced cardiovascular life support, ACLS, and basic life support, BLS. At Conviva Care Center East Plantation, she provides compassionate, patient-focused primary care with a commitment to medical excellence.  

Ms. Lafontant graduated from the Accelerated Combined BSN/MSN Program for Foreign-educated Physicians at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. She obtained a Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2015. Before relocating to the United States, she earned her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Notre Dame University of Haiti in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in 2005.  

She served an internship at Justinian University Hospital in Cap Haitian, Haiti, and completed clinical rotations in OB-GYN, orthopedics, pediatrics, ORL, ER, internal medicine, urology, family practice, surgery, and pulmonology. Her experience in hospital settings includes as a clinician and counselor in charge of HIV patients at the Haitian Community Hospital from 2006 to 2009 and as a primary care physician at the Providence Hospital from 2005 to 2006. She pursued continuing studies at the University Hospital in Amiens, France, with a rotation in the cardiology service in 2003 and the GHESKIO Centers of Haiti, for training on the use of anti-retroviral and management of the HIV patients in 2006.  

Ms. Lafontant is a member of the American Association of Nurse practitioners. She worked as a registered nurse, RN, and Charge Nurse at Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach, Florida, for 2 years. She has been a primary care provider at Amicus from 2018, until joining Conviva in 2022.
