Sergio Cassanego, M.D., received board certification through the American Board of Internal Medicine, ABIM, in 1997 with recertification in 2008. At Conviva Care Center Okeechobee, he leads a team of compassionate, patient-focused primary health care providers, with a commitment to medical excellence. Practicing medicine for over twenty-five years, he has devoted himself to achieving high-quality patient outcomes and providing sound, patient wellness-related education. Dr. Cassanego completed a residency in internal medicine at Maryland University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, from October 1980 to June 1984. He earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Santa Maria in Santa Maria, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in December 1978. He prepared for and passed the ECFMG examination (required of all foreign medical graduates to qualify for post-graduate training in the USA) from September 1979 to August 1980. Dr. Cassanego is trilingual, fluent in English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish. In his free time, he enjoys music, playing percussion instruments, hiking, and bicycling.
